Fishing_on_the_Spey_2_resizeThis is prime angling territory! The River Spey is Scotland’s longest and fastest river and it enjoys a high reputation with fly fishermen everywhere. It is the epitome of a classic salmon river. Trout fishing is plentiful too in the Cairngorms.

You can fish for trout and salmon on the River Spey with fishing permits for stocked lochs or for the River Spey. They are sold at local shops such as Speyside Sports in Aviemore, Tel 01479 810656, and at Loch Morlich Water sports Centre, Tel: 01479 861221, which also hires out rods and tackle

Loch Insh Watersports Centre offers fishing for salmon, trout and char on Loch Insh and there’s a stocked lochan for beginners. You can also hire an experienced ghillie to accompany you if you wish.

The Rothiemurchus estate has a stocked trout loch with novice facilities and you can hire rods. You can also fish for salmon and trout on the Spey, or boat fish for brown trout and pike on lochs with glorious views of the mountains.
